cutting up the doily stash...

i've been busy at the sewing machine stitching up a bit of new year bunting.
cutting into some of the doily collection and stringing them together with a vintage sheet.
currently hanging above my sewing desk.

(have you noticed the prices some op-shops charge for doilies now? they must be becoming popular)

  1. Zara, I love your bunting! I got a sewing machine for Christmas. I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm very excited by the potential. I see doilies all the time at the Oppies but haven't thought to look at prices until now - how much are they charging up there? I'll keep my eye out. Sometimes they're a bit slow to catch onto trends here in the Tassie Op Shops. Mel x PS a big Happy New Year to you too!

  3. Great idea or bunting. I've done it with paper ones but not the real deal. They look rather dainty!

  5. Happy New Year Zara.
The bunting is so pretty. It would look so lovely around a sewing desk.
I have noticed the prices of doilies vary a lot. I've found some for only 50c and then there are others that are around $2 and more. I don't mind spending extra on the more special ones but I have found some prices a little bit up there.

  11. lovely bunting, and lovely photos. i'm guessing you made the binding yourself too since it's from a vintage sheet, very clever! i have a couple of places i go when i specifically need doilies where they have stayed cheap because your right the price has rocketed. it does make the daintiest of bunting x
