My Place & Yours... Favourite cup

'My Place and Yours' has found a new home. Sadly Vic's lovely blog has come to an end, but the fun continues with Deb of Works in Progress who has taken up this meme. This weeks theme is your favourite cup. Now I have a few favourites, some are my everyday use favourites and others that are just so pretty to look at.

The thrifted collection of Pyrex mugs are the everyday favourites.

This one was just picked up today for the grand total of $1.

and is now taking pride of place alongside these two in the clearing sale kitchen dresser.

Why not take a pic of your favourite cup, I know you must have at least one favourite, maybe it was passed on to you by Grandma, maybe a special gift from a loved one, maybe it was even thrifted?

Fabulous Finds

A busy week of work, work and more work. A double shift last night, and I'm feeling it this afternoon that's for sure.  Last day of my week tomorrow then a couple of days off and boy am I looking forward to it. Op-shopping is on the agenda, as some plain good old-fashioned relaxing.

These finds courtesy of a spot of mid-week thrifting.

Floral sheet, $2

Silver ware, 20c a pop

And my favourite finds at the amazing price of all three for $10 are...

these old school chairs. I'm still debating whether to paint them or leave them as is.

Around here...

A cute little parcel arrived from the lovely Kylie, a housewarming gift. The fitting coasters are on the coffee table as we speak and the tea towel is awaiting transformation into a bag, or maybe another cushion. Thank you for the kind thought.

And the sweetest tote bag made its home with me. Designed and illustrated by Stella of The Golden Adventures of a very dark horse, featuring the two chooks and my favourite flowers; my prize for the Tote Bag Competition. Absolutely perfect and receiving heaps of use. Thank you.

A bit of sewing of late, with yet another tea towel cushion cover made...

and some fantastic op-shopped finds were had today (one of which is where the above cushion now resides).

And I was actually able to get two cushions from the one tea towel, these Kangas were at the bottom of the farm scene above.

And after reading farmer Yvette's post a little while back, I also took up farming, worm farming that is. We don't have a 'Green' bin here (unlike before we moved), and I didn't much like having to chuck all the kitchen scraps in the garbage, it seemed like such a waste, so this little investment was made with my first pay cheque.

The garden sure will be appreciative of the 'worm tea' that will hopefully result from these little guys doing their thing and breaking down all the scraps.

How has your week been travelling so far?

Op-Shopping

Water colour, $10

2 metres of fabric, $1.50

 Apron, $2.

My first week of work is done, thank goodness for that.
I hit the three local op-shops yesterday morning and picked up these few treasures.
A walk to the park is planned this afternoon to enjoy the beautiful, sunny weather, then it's back into it for another week.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Send it Forward + My week

It's been a busy week so far. I commenced my New Graduate year at the hospital, and although I'm pretty exhausted from the early starts, I'm really enjoying it. All the staff are lovely and are so very helpful, so really what more can I ask for. It's a half hour drive from home, but it is a nice drive with great views of the country side.

Before I forget I thought I best decide on two recipients for my handmade tea towel cushion covers as my contribution to the Send it Forward idea. And so those two are Lea of We Like to Make Stuff and Peta of The Sea and Me Change (both lovely blogs if you haven't already popped over to see them). If you two ladies could please send your postal details I can get them sent off to you.

We had a little visitor in the garden during the week too in the form of a youngster blue-tongue lizard. He's more than welcome to stay too with a bit of a snail population around at the moment. He stays pretty camouflaged as I can often hear a bit of rustling of the mulch but can't see him.

Someone else trying their hand at a bit of camouflage is this one...

matching the colours perfectly.

I have the weekend off and am planning it already, I know it's only Wednesday but I can't help it. I'm hoping to get in a bit of thrifting (which I have missed all week), maybe a picnic at the park; and a bit of sewing. Plus a visit to the nursery to pick up a couple of hardy pot plants. Any suggestions for what will grow well on a verandah either side of the front door, that maybe receives an hour or so direct sun in the morning? The current two were looking quiet sick when we moved here and they're in need of replacements.

Well hoping you all have a wonderful rest of the week. x

On the Wall...

This weeks 'My Place and Yours' theme at Punky & Me is 'On the Wall'. Now I'm pretty lucky with our house as there are quiet a few hooks already in the walls, and I've been enjoying swapping around a few frames to see where they work best. On the shopping list now are a few of those wire plate hanger things so I can display a bit more of the Johnson plate collection.

Why not take a few photos of what can be found on your walls, and join in the fun, here.

Outside

Joining in again with Vic's 'My Place and Yours'. This weeks theme is outside, and lucky for me the weather today is beautiful. The sun is shining, the washing line is full and I think it's about time to sit down on the front verandah with a slice of banana cake and enjoy it while it lasts.

To add your outside pics and check out all the other fantastic photos, do so here.

Last chance, if you'd like to be in the draw to be the recipient of a 'Send it Forward' handmade tea towel cushion cover, just leave a comment on this post.

Crockery Cabinet

Saturday's Clearing Sale just out of town saw the purchase of a few much needed pieces of furniture and a couple of other things including two old timber ladders, one for a bed side table and the other for the sewing/craft room.
My favourite piece would have to be this kitchen dresser..finally a place to store and display the ever growing crockery collection. There was a bit of competition in the bidding for this one, but the fiance was determined, and so the final bid was ours..Yipee.

The top glass section currently holds the pastel coloured crockery, mainly Johnson pieces. It's lovely to see and admire the collection every time you walk through the kitchen.

It's rather cold and wet here today, so a spot of sewing is in order, there's also overripe bananas waiting to be turned into cake, and bags to be packed for a week of  New Graduate orientation at Dubbo... I better get to it.
