our new home.

we've moved into our new little cottage.
the vintage sheets are bursting out of their cases (the thrifting search begins for more vintage cases).
with one less bedroom and short a sun room this house is certainly more cosy than our last. but i like it cosy and my thrifted vintage pieces look more at home here.

i'm busy displaying the collections. the milk glass has a new spot as does the Pyrex. i'm trying new little vignettes on nearly every flat surface: counter top, book shelf, timber ladder. bringing pieces that have been stored away out to be enjoyed.

i'm keen for new ideas.. i would love to see & hear about how you display collections throughout your home

coming up... milk glass display.

a move.

the mantel is bare. the picture hooks hold no art. the kitchen dresser shelves once sagging under the weight of crockery are temporarily relieved of their contents.
yes it's happening. we are moving. it all happened pretty quickly once we made our minds up.
the collections are wrapped in vintage sheets and tucked snugly into boxes. the other half has done all of the packing so far. while i've been working. making the most of the last of my new grad year and full-time pay.
we have a new little cottage to call home in the southern tablelands of NSW. there's a verandah out the back overlooking the apple tree laden with fruit.
a new home for a new year. i'm looking forward to the change.

it's been a busy and stressful few days. there's been plenty of umming and ahhing deciding where we will call home this year. a move may be on the cards. maybe soon or maybe later on. it is out of our hands at the moment. just a matter of waiting now.

for twenty thirteen.

Looking back on my list for 2012 i have been able to tick a fair few off...

get in the kitchen more

make some of my pinterest pins

design labels for my handmade pieces

get a worm farm (or two)

try macaroons

visit new op-shops

display my thrifted collections

& take more photos

Some remain medium/long term goals...
like building or renovating my own home
opening my own homemade business to sell my wares
holidaying in Tasmania
& keeping bees.

others have not been ticked off at all. full time, shift work sure played its part in this this..
attending farmers markets as often as I'd like
go camping
volunteering at an op-shop
& attending a permaculture design course.

for 2013 i'm aiming to:
slow it down a bit.. especially on the full time work front
eat more wholesome foods and expand my recipe base. the recent acquisitions of two river cottage cook books will be very helpful here
dress in more thrifted, vintage outfits
try my hand at crochet and knitting
&
keep up with this blog. with more give-aways and maybe a couple of tutorials too.

looking forward to seeing you all here in 2013

cutting up the doily stash...

i've been busy at the sewing machine stitching up a bit of new year bunting.
cutting into some of the doily collection and stringing them together with a vintage sheet.
currently hanging above my sewing desk.

(have you noticed the prices some op-shops charge for doilies now? they must be becoming popular)
