before & after. 1 of 2
a quick browse through Vinnies and I found these two little foot stools.
marked $3 each I scored the two for the even more bargain price of $5.
the attractive old mustard vinyl was removed quick smart.
the op-shopped tea towel didn't require any cutting so it was much easier to repurpose it. (as many of you vintage linen collectors know, cutting into the stash can be a struggle)
woollen blanket off cuts were used as padding and the tea towel was attached with the staple gun.
now to decide if those legs should be painted. and what colour?
plus i've got the other one to makeover too.

Oh love your work Zara. I have a bit of a stool fetish, would bring home more if I could. The teatowel looks wonderful and agree about the no snipping strategy. I would either leave the legs au naturale or maybe go a red to match the flowers on top. mel x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous find Zara! I know I'm always a white person but maybe pickout from the teatowel design ....black or scarlet xx
ReplyDeleteI think the existing colour of the legs suits the tones of the tea towel. Looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteoh my!! soooo beautiful! what a gorgeous project. xx
ReplyDeleteawesome job! love it
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteVery clever Zara, love it. I would leave the legs :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely transformation Zara, so much nicer. Of course anything with a vintage t.towel gets a big tick from me (especially when cutting isn't involved!) I'd def leave the legs as is.
ReplyDeleteobviously your vinnies store hasnt caught up to the thrifting resurgance and still has very reasonably priced items. OMG what a bargain and lovely too..want them, really lovely!
ReplyDeleteOooh I love it! I have one of those footstools, in mint condtion, with a beige vinyl covering. It belonged to my Pop, and makes me think of him when i use it. I have always wondered what to do with it, and may have just found the inspiration I need.
ReplyDeletewonderful make over - i scored a similar footstool and a garage sale once and I make a few interchangeable slips (coz a girl's gotta have options!) have fun covering the second stool xx
ReplyDeleteLovely stool especially with the linen being so textured. I'd leave the legs and just give them a sand and Danish oil rejigger for freshness. Love the colurs!
ReplyDeletewhat a transformation! great job. the legs... i kind of like the way they are, but i also like the idea of picking up the hot pink/red flowers. have a great weekend. Jane x
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job! They look so cute now!
ReplyDeleteThis is great Zara! I love the print on the tea towel and the colours. I also have a mild obsession with little stools, a couple could do with a bit of a makeover :-) I also really like the legs as it. Look forward to seeing the next one. Mel x
ReplyDeleteLove the makeover Zara. I'd leave the legs as they are because it fits the era, otherwise 'Pillar Box' red would be nice.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love this! You have totally got me thinking:) Cyndy
