macramé anyone?

so a bit of a theme developed in this weeks op-shopping. yesterday while browsing through the dress patterns (i'm on the search for an elusive cape/poncho pattern) I came across this macramé plant hanger how-to book published in 1974. with the sticker stating 20c it was quickly payed for and home I went.
then today I popped into the 'Friday op-shop' and spotted this macramé plant hanger by the counter, I asked at the till if it was for sale and in response got 'it's been there for months you can have it'.
so with a milk glass planter from my collection and a little 'jellybean' succulent I now have a new favourite piece in my living room.

are you a macramé fan? it certainly seems to be coming in style again.

  1. It's gorgeous and looks great in that spot! I have just found the one I made in 1981 at school - just needs a little bit of work at the top and it will be put back into action. I wish I had the very very cool baskets I made at a holiday workshop then too.

  2. Ooooh I love macrame! I have made little pot hangers for my girls (they keep their pens in them). I also hang up clay hearts with macramed twine. At school I made a big macrame owl. What a shame it got chucked out when I left home!!😉

  3. Looks great Zara, both the macrame and milk glass. I remember learning macrame at school in the late 70's (cringe), seeing those knots in the planter has brought back some memories. We were probably making hangers for our mums for mother's day. Tons of fun and not difficult from memory. Have a lovely weekend.

  4. Great finds - I've been wanting to make a plant hanger for ages (I still remember the basics from school - when we made plant hangers and owls) Yes - I was a child of the 70's. Just need to find time to source the necessary materials. xx

  8. I don't know. Love your finds but I'm today I'm feeling undecided about macrame. Perhaps it is flashbacks to mother's day past... Pretty sure I made a macrame owl for my mum.
