doily upcycling

slowly but surely the dated light fittings around here are being replaced with doily covered shades. the frames have all been op-shopped and the doilies have been gifted and thrifted. the shadows cast on the ceiling bring a smile to my face.

do you have a favourite doily upcycling project?

  1. I love these! The humble doily is really making a come back. I am using them in my Christmas craft at the moment, lots of fun. xo

  2. I'm partial to a doily on a t-shirt or a skirt. Loving your light shades... the shadows would be uber ace. Lovely dovely without doubt.

  3. Oh I have a gazillion doily projects going on. From tshirts to hair bands for my girls, a patch to cover stained jeans, simple framed dyed doilies and my favourite...probably bunting I think. Your shades are so pretty Zara. They really are so lovely. Clever you!

  5. So elegant, Zara.
I don't have a doily project, but while visiting Orange recently, I slept under a cute thrifted doona cover made from vintage hand-embroidered linen tablecloths. I wanted to smuggle it into my little red suitcase at the end of my visit.

  6. These are simply beautiful. I love the idea of warm lace shadows across a room on a cold winters evening.

  8. Your light shade is so pretty and such a good idea. I am always buying little bits of crochet and embroidery in charity shops, without a very clear idea of what to do with them.

  9. I don't have a favourite 'doily up-cycling' project but can safely safe that doily covered light shades would be up there on my list if I did - these are gorgeous Zara... xx
