LGBs and Vintage Sheets...

I managed to squeeze in a half hour of op-shopping after work one day this week.
Golden Books and vintage sheets were added to my shopping basket.

Days...

Hibernation mode here... there's not alot been happening around home with the weather so cool. So cool in fact that you could see your breath indoors at 2 o'clock this afternoon.

The sunshine is lovely and the front verandah catches it for most of the day, the perfect spot to enjoy a late breakie and a spot of Country Style Mag reading and dreaming.

The vegie patch that has stood rather bare of late has been planted up with silver beet and spring onions, two of the vegies I find most useful in the kitchen.

A little bit of op-shopping too, with a bone-handled bread knife for 10c and hand knitted grey vest for $3. Both already put to use.

And I've brought the still to be finished vintage sheet patchwork quilt out of the wardrobe in the hope that if I see it every time I walk past it might just encourage me to get in there and finish it.

Thrifted fun

A bit of a theme happening in this weeks finds.

Children's game, 20c. I'm thinking the picture tiles may be perfect for cards and gift tags.

Cot sheet ($1), to be made into bunting for a workmates yet to be born baby boy.

And a stack of children's books to add to the collection (10-20c each).

 

Out-and-about: Millthorpe

Today we took a drive out to the lovely Millthorpe. Located about a 20 minute trip from Orange (with lots of new little lambs in the paddocks to look at along the way at this time of the year) this is one quaint little town that's for sure. With plenty of old buildings, boutiques and cafes to enjoy; a stroll down the cobbled, bluestone bordered streets in the Winter sunshine was the perfect way to spend my day off.

We dined at the Old Mill Cafe which several friends had recommended, and it did not disappoint. Homemade Curry Chicken pie just out of the oven and hot chips was on the menu, enjoyed in the little cottage courtyard, and at a very reasonably priced $12.

I don't think it will be long before we take another drive out that way, maybe next time on a weekend when all the shops and cafes are open to cater for the day trippers and weekend holiday makers.

At home...

Enjoying the Winter sunshine when it manages to peek through the clouds and drizzle, and days off spent at home. The fridge and pantry are restocked, the menu for the week has been planned, the house has had a thorough clean, the heaters are heating, and I'm all set for another week at work.
